Next adventure let’s go! This trip isn’t what was originally planned. I was still going to Alicante, but for different reasons, and originally not intended to be a solo trip either, but we move and we’re making the most of a new place! As this trip had slightly altered I wanted to try and find some cool things to do by myself to still make the most of visiting somewhere I probably wouldn’t naturally pick myself. The main party towns didn’t appeal to me but when I was researching I found some really cool places to visit out of the main areas which really excited me!
I planned two chill days and two adventure days for this trip as I really did also need some wind down time as well as a chance to explore. Anyway, off we go! I had a really early flight to Alicante, 5:45am felt really grossly disgusting when I got up at 2:30am to head to the airport! I landed in Alicante at around 9:30am and headed to my hotel where luckily my room was ready so I could checkin straight away and get sroted. I knew that day one was very much going to be finding my bearings and sleeping on a sunbed by the pool topping up my tan. I was exhausted, it was so nice to be back in the sunshine and just enjoy some downtime.

Day two arrived and it was the first adventure day! I was up and out for a run at 7:30am, the hotel that I was staying at was literally 30 seconds from the beach so I had to make the most of getting out and enjoying the views before the promenade was absolutely packed! It was beautiful scenery for a 5k and I absolutely loved it. Post run I got ready, grabbed some breakfast and before I knew it I was heading to Guadalest and the Algar Waterfalls for the day.
Stop one; Guadalest. It was really easy to get here, about 45 minutes out of the main centre and you would genuinely think it was a completely different part of Spain. I left the party scene behind and the mountains were truly beautiful. I wasn’t really sure what I was expecting visiting here, but I was amazed, it really was stunning. I visited the village and El Castell de Guadalest and went on a bit of an adventure to the tops of the Castell to see the incredible views of the whole village and mountains. It was picturesque and the colours were to die for, including the bright blue reservoir.

Stop two; Algar Waterfalls, or Fonts de l’Algar. This again was something quite sensational, it is a beautiful collection of pools, waterfalls and caves on the rocky bed of the Algar River ravine. I spent a few hours here wandering around and exploring the different areas, there was lots of stairs and rocks to climb over to get to the next bits but you also had to opportunity to take a dip in any of the pools, which was amazing. I’d definitely recommend this as a place to visit but some of the pools were absolutely rammed with people who were there for the day with picnics, and I visited slightly off season, so imagine in the Summer it will be pretty busy!

Adventure day two! Quad biking eeeek! I haven’t been quad biking for a long time, so I was a bit nervous but still very excited to spend some time exploring the jungle and surrounding areas. Again, this was super easy to get to from the main town where I was staying, about 20 minutes on the bus and then a 10 minute walk to the meeting point. After a quick test drive, we headed out and rode all through Altea heading off-rode, through the jungle areas and mountains, and finally down towards the coast in L’Alfàs del Pi which was just bliss. The scenery was just to die for and seeing the crystal clear blue seas as well just really made my day. I didn’t want it to end!
Let me just say, the absolute pure rush of adrenaline I experienced whilst quad biking was insane. I got the hit of feeling alive again that I just haven’t had for a little while. I book through Quad Adventure and it was so worth it, it really was a decent trip out on the road for about 2 hours just exploring.

Final day was chill day. I was very excited to spend a day by the pool relaxing and decompressing before heading back home. I had quite a late flight home so that I could make the most of the sunshine on the last day and I’m so glad that I did. It was so lovely being able to just breathe, refresh and relax before hading back to reality! Writing this as I sit at the airport waiting to board my flight so it’s bye for now, but heading off on my next adventure in just under a month so be back soon! See ya then, Mads x
