It’s Summer Break which means it’s adventure time! I’m not soloing it this time though (ahhh!), I’m actually off to Madrid with my mum and her friend for some downtime in the sunshine. Important word in there, downtime! It’s not very often I hop off on an adventure with the intention of not doing a lot but here we are. There is a reason though, it’s been a busy year so far and I’m off to San Fransisco when I get back from Madrid for some full on adventure time so I really do need to make the most of switching off and not doing a lot for a few days.
Day one we landed around 12:30pm, it was an early start! We landed just in time for kickoff of the England v Spain Women’s World Cup Final, after the game finished it was pretty much straight to the pool for some rays! We then headed out in the evening to explore oneof the local areas and grab some dinner. We hadn’t planned anywhere but was walking through some quaint backstreets when we noticed a little restaurant that we only planned to stop and have a drink at, but ended up staying for dinner and it was incredible!

Day two consisted of more time by the pool! We then ventured into the city to explore the night markets and enjoy some tapas. We went for a stroll around the city centre and for tapas and then on to Mercado De San Miguel where there was some incredibleee local food and delicacies, as well as some street entertainment around it. Night times in other countries fascinate me as I feel this is really when it comes to life and you can get a real feel for the environment, I loved walked around the cobbled streets and exploring the different areas so much.
P.s. I cannot get over how quirky this place is, I’ve had my phone in my hand so much taking photos of literally everything because it just looks so cool and cannot help myself in the slightest!

Day three I had an explore day! I couldn’t do an entire trip with no time to explore the city and surrounding areas. I headed out by myself and first stop was Museo De Arte Contemporáneo De Madrid, followed by a stroll around Malasaña. The museum wasn’t overly big, although it was free to get in so I didn’t expect lots! But I enjoyed wandering around and exploring the different exhibits and areas, and there were some really cool pieces there. Malasaña was stunning to walk around, it was quirky, there was lots of colour and street art and it really did feel like a little slice of heaven for someone like me! I stopped to take some snaps and found a cool little independent bubble tea shop so grabbed a drink, which given how warm it was, was so refreshing!

I then metup with mum and her friend for some paella (which was stunning), we found a cute little independent restaurant on a side street which was full, so knew we would be getting something good. When we was walking back to the main city centre to grab a bus back to our hotel we passed a tattoo shop accepting flash walk-ins so I couldn’t resist adding to my collection and managed to get a spontaneous tattoo with my mumma. After a day of exploring, we went back to the hotel and had an evening dip in the pool followed by a stroll into one of the local villages for some cocktails!

Day four was again, very much chilled vibes. We secured late checkout and headed to the pool for some final rays of sunshine. I can honestly say I don’t think I’ve relaxed this much on a holiday in years, I’m always so full of get up and go and get itchy feet trying to stay still and just chill but I genuinely just enjoyed having some downtime and relaxing. No rest now though as our flight home isn’t until later at night and not expected home until about 3am tomorrow morning. I am jam packed tomorrow and flying to San Francisco at 10am the day after! I imagine I might sleep for quite a signifcant amount of the 11hour flight! See ya sooner than you think x
