A very early start leaving my hostel in Berlin at 04:00 to get to airport meant it was time for my next stop! Copenhagen! it was pretty tiresome trying to navigate my way back to the airport at 04:00 in the morning, it wasn’t quite as simple as going back the same way I came as the trains were limited that early, but I made it with time to spare and before I knew it, was on the plane, and asleep. I landed in Copenhagen at around 08:00, it was a super short flight, so first stop once off the plane… you guessed it… coffee! I heard good things about the coffee in Copenhagen so I was super excited to try out some different coffee shops. I found my way to my hostel pretty easily from the hotel, I managed to jump on a train to the central station and it was no more than a 10minute walk away. Perfect. I arrived far too early to checkin so I chilled out in their social area for a bit and watched a film to try catchup with some Z’s and then headed out around lunchtime in search of some food and to find my bearings around the local area. I headed back a little while later to checkin properly and ditch my bag, have a shower and get changed before heading out in the evening. I found a really cute boardwalk which overlooked at the river so had a wander along and then back up through the town and past Tivoli Gardens and Glyptoteket (I’m going here another day!) before grabbing some dinner and heading back to my hostel for some much needed down time.

My second day in Copenhagen and I was ready for it. I headed down to Nyhvan to snap some pics of and with the really colourful houses and canal and it looked just like the pictures I’d see online before coming. it was so picturesque, however there were lots of canals that all looked very similar so if you’re looking for somewhere quieter to take some snaps for insta, have a wander round and there will be another one not so far away. There was a Danish guy who passed me and saw me struggling with my tripod (I broke it in Berlin), so offered to take some pics for me which I was super grateful for, and his camera skills were second to none, thankyou kind stranger. From here I headed up through the town and similarly to Berlin, found oodles of street art on every wall of each corner I turned and it was stunning. I was going towards the Botanical Gardens and spent the afternoon there. This was nothing short of incredible. I sent some time wandering the grounds and then took a trip into the gardens themselves, there was a rainforest area which was just pure stunning amongst many other rooms and houses where there were lots of different plants, flowers and species, but my favourite of all was the butterfly garden. Oh my goodness. The butterflies were beautiful and allowed me to get up close with my camera to shoot some incredible pics which I couldn’t believe. They were breathtaking and so many different patterns on their wings too (my fave below!) and this really just captured me for the trip here.

From the Botanical Gardens I headed to the Planetarium (I really do surprise myself sometimes!) to have a look around (it was included in my Copenhagen Card) and explore what was on offer. I am so glad I did. When I was in there had a bit of a moment in one of the exhibitions. The exhibition was framed around the big bang and atoms and how humans are here and I got a little teary about how we are placed on this earth for a reason (I don’t know how I made the link), but it spoke about how we are made of Hydrogen, Carbon, Oxygen, Iron, etc, all the normal bits, but the final slide said ‘You Are Made of the Universe’, and it just got me. You stood in front of the screens and it cast an outline of you that copied your moves and it was like seeing myself staring back at me (made of lots of atoms) realising a bit more about my purpose. It made me happy. There was also the most stunning light exhibition which completely mesmerised me and I could have spent hours in here just exploring it all, I’ve added a snippet of the light exhibition below.

Final part of the day, and evening activities, including grabbing dinner and I was headed out on a pub crawl tonight. It was organised through Pub Crawl Copenhagen and they did amazingly, a group of youngsters (mostly all solo travelling) had a safe group of individuals to meet and socialise with whilst having fun in another country. I had such a great evening and made some new pals from new countries who I’m super keen to stay in touch with like I’ve been able to on previous adventures too. Let’s see what the rest of my trip holds!
